[People who challenge] Two people who practice "organic farming" in Aso had a talk!

■ From agricultural training to establishment of "Aso Sato Farm"

MOG>
Mr. Sato, who had trained under Umeki for one year, what kind of influence did you have?

Sato>
I agree. My grandmother is also a farmer, so I pickled vegetables and sold them at the station for 100 yen per bag. Umeki-san also sold homegrown vegetables as they were, but after seeing them processed into a portable form, I came to want to do that (when I started farming).

MOG>
Did you already have a plan for the style of the current “Aso Sato Farm” when you became independent?

Sato>
After one year of training, I decided to start myself immediately. So, during the training, I proceeded with the procedures for farmland and prepared the requirements to become a farmer. The pickle processing plant was also prepared during the training, and the following month after the training, pickles were ready to be shipped to the roadside station.

MOG>
It seems that the process of getting to farming is going very smoothly. Why is that?

Sato>
After all, it was because of Mr. Umeki's advice, support, and understanding of new farming. Normally, if you are a farmer today, you can only harvest seeds a few months before they can be harvested, so there is no income during that time. In my case, I was prepared during the training, so I could start immediately in April.

MOG>
What was the biggest thing you learned at Umeki for a year?

Sato>
The first is "flexible attitude". I was able to learn the stance of developing what I was good at and doing what I was best for.

MOG>
What's Sato's greatest strength?

Sato>
I think that being able to put thoughts and stories on products is the greatest strength. After a lot of trial and error after starting a business, I was able to establish a style of "processing what I cultivated myself and producing it as a processed product". It is unusual for a woman to be farming in Aso, and I think it is unique to me that I can sell my own products with added value.

MOG>
Thank you very much.

"Agriculture" is not an easy world, but two people who are engaged in agriculture happily in nature. For Mr. Umeki, Sato provides ideas and information for young people and people from outside. For Mr. Sato, Umeki can consult with him when he is in trouble or trouble. Helping and collaborating with people around you to build trust. I realized that it was very important to live in Aso.

■ A word at the end

MOG>
Lastly, please give a word to all the participants of the entrepreneurship school.

Umeki>
In Aso, there are many people with various knowledge and experience. Just ask them to tell me, and everyone will be happy to tell you. By all means, please connect with such people a lot.

Sato>
First of all, wouldn't it be nice to use an entrepreneurship school as a time to look at what you want to do throughout your life? I think. Both emigration and entrepreneurship are difficult, so I think it's important to return to your "goals" and "want to be" when you start running, so that you don't fall down. When you think, "Why do I have such a big thought?" And I think having a reminding companion is the secret to success.

MOG>
I was encouraged by their positive attitude, despite their difficulties. Thank you for a wonderful story!
